Minka Farthing-Kohl
After a 45 hour labor Minka was born on a sunny day in a bathtub in San Francisco. He has lived throughout the Americas; most notably Bolivia, Ithaca, NY, Philadelphia and Brooklyn. He fell in love with the moving image as a kid when he would wake up well before his parents and press play on the VCR- exposing him to many seminal (and potentially inappropriate) films such as Scorsese’s Goodfellas and Fincher’s Seven.
As a cinematographer Minka has recently lensed two features, one called Concrete Cowboys starring Idris Elba that premiered at Toronto International Film Festival and is available on Netflix. And the other called The Nowhere Inn written and starring St. Vincent and Carrie Brownstein which premiered at Sundance and is distributed by IFC. Most recently he was the DC unit DP for Adam McKay’s Don’t Look Up starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence. However, he is most at home in the short form space where has shot many commercials for such artists as Travis Scott, ASAP Rocky, Skepta, Sufjan Stevens and brands such as Prada, Fendi, Burberry, Coach, Intel, Gatorade, Champion, Reebok, Adidas, Nike, and Bose.
